Frequently asked questions
Is it really free?
Yes. No account, no watermark, no download limits. The QR codes generated here are static: once created, they work forever — even if this site disappears.
Will my QR code expire?
No. The information is encoded directly in the pattern. It depends on no server, ours or anyone else's. It will still work in ten years.
Can I change the destination after printing?
Not with a static QR: the address is baked into the pattern. However, if your QR points to a page on your own site, you can change that page's content as often as you like — menu prices, for instance. Tip: always use a stable address on your own site, never a Google Drive link, which changes with every new file.
I scanned my Wi-Fi QR and nothing happened. Is that normal?
Yes, on iPhone. The connection happens silently, with no confirmation message: check the Wi-Fi icon at the top of your screen, or open Settings then Wi-Fi. On Android, a dialog usually appears. One more thing: automatic connection only works when you point the camera at a code physically in front of you. Scanning a screenshot from your photo library won't work — iOS uses text recognition there, not the code reader.
What size should I print it?
Allow 2 cm minimum for arm's-length scanning, 3 cm on a restaurant table, and 20 cm or more for a poster read from three metres. Simple rule: reading distance divided by ten gives the code size.
SVG, PNG or PDF — which should I pick?
PNG for a screen, an email or social media. PDF to print directly. SVG if you're handing the file to a printer or designer: it's the only format that scales up without going blurry.
Where do my details go?
Nowhere. The QR code is calculated by your browser, on your device. Your Wi-Fi password, your contact details, your logo: nothing is sent over the internet, nothing is stored.
